About Us

Goodcents – Where Good Food and Good Sense Meet

Since opening our first location in March of 1989, Goodcents has been devoted to one core philosophy—crafting food that’s fresh, delicious, and affordable, while fostering genuine relationships within the communities we serve. Originally known as Mr. Goodcents Subs & Pasta, our legacy began in Lenexa, Kansas, but our vision quickly expanded far beyond that first corner shop.

By 1991, Goodcents officially became a franchised brand, anchored in offering more than just great food. Over the last 35+ years, we’ve grown into a respected sandwich restaurant franchise company by staying committed to quality in every bite by supporting every franchisee.

About Our Founder

Joe Bisogno

Goodcents Founder and Chairman of the Board Joe Bisogno is a self-described “serial entrepreneur” who launched his business career at the tender age of 6 with a lemonade stand. By 16, he had purchased an ice cream truck, and later he bought a gas station and used car lot. All along, he nurtured the dream of owning his own restaurant someday.

After nearly 10 years with McDonald’s Corp., Bisogno founded Mr. Goodcents Subs and Pastas® in 1989 in Lenexa, Kansas. Today, it is known simply as Goodcents.

Owning a successful sub sandwich franchise was not enough for Bisogno, however. He also owns Custom Foods Inc., a leading bread manufacturer that creates custom dough products for restaurant chains, food service institutions, grocers and fundraising organizations, as well as Timber Hills Lake Ranch.

Bisogno believes strongly in giving back to his community. In 2005, he founded the Goodcents Foundation, which senior care and our local communities. He also is a longtime supporter of Habitat for Humanity, The Children’s Miracle Network and Leukemia Society of America. And in 2024, Bisogno and his wife, Laurie, served as co-chairs for the Alzheimer’s Association’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Kansas City, with the Goodcents Foundation as presenting sponsor. In 2022, Bisogno was inducted into the Kansas Business Hall of Fame, which cited his “lifetime of achievements as an entrepreneur, mentor and philanthropist.”
